Welcome to Episode #62 of the Fight for a Happy Life podcast. In this episode, I had the privilege of chatting with Stephan Kesting, founder of:
You may also recognize Stephan from some videos we’ve made together.
How to Escape a Rear Naked Choke
How to Take the Back in a Fight
What you may NOT know, is that Stephan was a HUGE influence on my decision to start a website. I was inspired by the way he was able to share information and build trust in a clear and classy manner. That’s why it’s always an honor to collaborate with him!
In this interview, you’ll hear Stephan address—
- Happiness versus fulfillment
- The role of nature in training
- Seeking challenges
- The #1 benefit of martial arts
- Dealing with injuries
- Thinking for yourself
- Taking care of your body
NOTE: During our chat, Stephan referred to two episodes of his podcast—
Episode #156: “Survivorman” Les Stroud
Episode #65: Some guy named “Ando”
I recommend both, of course. 🙂

Hi Ando,
Even though Mr. Stephen Kesting is very skilled in both self-defence and Brazilian Jujitsu, I don’t think he can solve my problem, because I am a Monk. Maybe this has little to do with skill and more to do with style (who knows…).
At the moment, I am having serious mental pressure because my little sister has bought a cat, which is rampaging around the house. Usually, people are concerned about wife or other women, but I have different concerns in life, and I doubt Mr. Stephen Kesting has the skill and prowess to deal with such matters. Still, I am in no position to comment since he does seem to be more capable than I am.
Full time fire fighter and a martial arts.that’s awesome
I agree! He’s a hard worker! 👍🏼
