Welcome to the seventh episode of the Fight for a Happy Life podcast, Make Peace with Violence.
Day after day, the headlines bring us stories of violence. The grief and outrage that result can be overwhelming… but it shouldn’t be!
Join Sensei Ando as he discusses how violence shapes our lives and how to keep our balance in a world that is both chaotic and beautiful.

Thanks for listening!
Thank you for the insightful podcast about violence and that we need to accept it.
Thanks for saying so, Mary!
All kinds of violence in this world. Who are the enablers?
Any good guy who doesn’t fight back!
Wow! I’m very impressed. Perfect description.
Your answer also reminds me of this phrase: “The Devil only has the power that was given to him.”
N.B.: I am atheist.
Excellent quote!
I’m flowing through your podcasts about three each day, and I’m greatly enjoying the content. I listen to it with earphones while I cycle, and hence have to turn it up to negate the traffic noises. Therefore I find the “s” sound is often clipped, and hence sounds substantially louder, and often painfully so. I know that you can’t change the ones you’ve done already, but please speak further from your microphone in order to avoid that, unless you obtain better equipment. You have many great messages to share, and I’d hate to miss out on them because of a niggling audio issue.
Thanks for the feedback, Matthew, and sorry for your pain. That sucks. I know exactly what you’re talking about. Oddly, I have the same problem even when shooting videos when I’m much farther away from the mic. I’ve tried limiting and windscreens already… I need to figure that out! Thanks again!
Hi Ando, thanks for the straight talk. People always get uncomfortable when I talk like this. They don’t want to think “all the way” to the end of their actions. Good example with the butchering. By not experiencing this anymore we get sick and unhealthy things like modern mass meat production. This applies to all areas in life. Good quote with the devil, Ingrid. I’m grateful there’s more people who are willing to look at the ugly things. No beauty without ugliness π
Hi Karin! So glad you found the website! π
It’s true… most people will think we’re a little crazy for accepting violence. But it’s up to the good guys to gently guide them to understand what we’re talking about or else they’ll always be vulnerable! Keep being you! π
Ando – thanks for your reply! I’ll do my best π
That’s all we can do! π
I really like your podcasts. I discovered them recently, after subscribing to your YouTube channel (because I started practicing a martial art for self-defense purposes… at 52, after brief stints with other martial arts in my youth), and I’m listening to them in order.
They’re all very interesting and inspiring but this one is definitely the best so far. I discovered that, thanks to the Internet, I’ve been working on accepting things I didn’t (and still don’t) like, and that’s really empowering.
Now I feel more ready every day to accept and face things I don’t like, including physical violence.
Thank you for being a significant part of this process with your inspiring work. Keep it up!
Hi Giampiero!
Nice to meet you! Thanks for the support of the podcast… I hope you’ll enjoy them all!
Good for you for using the internet as a window into more than just want you WANT to see… it really is a bridge to understanding or at least making peace with what we DON’T want to see!
Welcome back to the mats! Happy training!
